Bird of Paradise

Only five species are found in this genus, two of which make elegant indoor plants: Strelitzia nicolai and Strelitzia reginae. While these relatives of the banana are capable of producing flowers, Birds of Paradise rarely do so indoors and are prized instead for their large banana-like leaves. These medium sized plants are excellent as lone specimens in a planter box or large pot, as well as enhancing a large group display.

Bird of paradise is a bright sun-loving plant. It thrives in humid settings, but will adapt to normal indoor humidity ranges.
